Trusting God in difficult times by Iberedem David
But now thus saith the Lord that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine. When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee. (Isaiah 43 :1-2 kjv)
Why does God have to sometimes remind us that He created us? This is because in difficult times, we sometimes feel worthless and inadequate as though God is unconcerned about us. We are however reminded that God is our source. Difficulties abound in the world, and these may come to test our faith, move us to a higher place, or wrought righteousness in us. We should remember that God is holding us in His arms. He says to us: I have redeemed you, you are mine. There is a mark on us that differentiates us irrespective of where we find ourselves. We should rid ourselves of compromises and learn to trust in Him. Fear also stands as a limitation to our trust in God. It takes our eyes away from God, and causes us to compromise. And so He says to us: do not fear.
God promises us His presence when we pass through difficult and not so difficult situations. Our trust in God should be both in little and difficult things, because our trust in God with little things defines our trust in the difficult times as well. The three Hebrew children, Esther and children of Israel are examples of people whom God showed up for when they had difficult times. Beyond our wildest imaginations, God can change the natural outcome of situations in our favour because we are His. What He requires of us is to trust Him. His purpose cannot be thwarted because His seal is upon us. Even in situations that should overwhelm us, remember, God promises His commitment and protection because we are His.
